Nigerian man gets jailed 4 years in UK jail for fraud

Idris Ogunsanya lived larger than life on fraud proceeds

Another Nigerian, Idris Ogunsanya, has further dented the image of the country after he was sentenced to a four and half year jail term by the Snaresbrook Crown Court in the United Kingdom for defrauding many people out of several thousands of pounds, Daily Mail reports.

Ogunsanya, a 29-year-old unemployed man from Blackwall Way, was found guilty of fraud on Friday, February 19, 2016, after the prosecutor proved his case beyond reasonable doubt.
According to the report, Ogunsanya, despite being unemployed, lived an expensive lifestyle, enjoying luxury trips to Dubai in business class and and stayed at expensive hotels including the Burj Al Arab Hotel, all paid for from the proceeds of his fraud.

At the time Ogunsanya was arrested, he had used a stolen credit card to buy a £375 worth bottle of Dom Perignon champagne at the Radisson Blu Edwardian hotel in Canary Wharf, raising suspicion.
Other items recovered from his house during a search includes a large quantity of stolen credit cards, £6,000 in cash, a device for skimming card details from ATMs, credit card reader, 60 inch television, bottles of champagne and several pair of expensive trainers.

Investigation established that Ogunsanya defrauded even his close neighbours and other victims of over £40,000.
