2015 witnessed a lot of controversial Nigerian celebrities
and the scandals they were embroiled in. Some really got our attention
and kept our tongues wagging till the end of the year. Controversies in
the lives of some celebrities boost their popularity and sometimes,
increase their fan following. These are some the celebrities that
managed to achieve these this year.
1. Maheeda
The goddess of X as she fondly calls herself was in the news all
through the year for the raunchy photos she posted on social
media. During the presidential elections, Maheeda claimed she won’t step
into the country if President Muhammad Buhari won but the
Netherlands-based celebrity was spotted in Nigeria after the swearing-in
of the president.
2. Toyin Aimakhu
The popular Yoruba actress’ life was played out on social media in
2015. From her split from her husband, Adeniyi Johnson, to her rumoured
hookup with Ebony Films boss, Seun Egbegbe. all was made public. Just
when we thought that was all she had in stock, she lashed out at her
critics on Instagram.
3. Tonto Dikeh
When it comes to controversy, Tonto Dikeh is a queen. Earlier in the
year she teased her fans with discreet photos of her boo, Mr X,
promising to put up a full photo soon. When she finally shared photos,
it was along with the news of her engagement. The actress known for her
public feuds with former friends and fans seemed to have settled into
married life and his currently expecting a baby.
4. Stella Damasus
A husband-snatching scandal is why we have Stella on the list. When
she was confronted on whether she was dating another woman’s husband,
Stella said the rumors were rubbish and Nigerian blogs trying to tarnish
her image. This was in 2012. Stella Damasus is now married to Daniel
Ademimokan, the ex husband of Doris Simeon and this year, despite all
the criticism, the actress flaunted her relationship online and once
tried to defend in a vlog she posted online.
5. Toke Makinwa
We were all shocked when Toke’s husband, Maje Ayida was reported to
have impregnated his ex girlfriend, Anita. Toke Makinwa
who constantly shows off her man on social media was obviously
disappointed as she went silent for a week. Toke surprised us all
recently when she was spotted with Maje at an event in Lagos.
