Nigerian broadcaster, Anthony Onwuchekwa aka Tony Doe has revealed why his colleagues now refer to him as the Ogbonge man.
In
a recent chat with Pulse, the former Radio Continental presenter
disclosed that some of his colleagues started calling him that after he
starred in a radio programme entitled the Ogbonge Man.
Findings
revealed that the radio programme, which is bankrolled by Nigerian
Breweries owned Gulder brand of beer, has become a huge success, thus,
attracting more fans to Tony Doe's fanbase.
"Well
what I do with Tony Doe Media Services is provide cost-effective
Voice-Overs for a variety of Radio/TV content, Multi-Media purposes as
well as Radio Imaging and Production. I’ve been privileged to voice a
number of radio commercials and provide Imaging for stations and DJs,
while also hosting independent radio shows," he began.
Continuing, he said, 'Prior
to the Ogbonge Man, I provided narration for Biz Connect, a TV Show
which aired on LTV/LWT, I was the demo talent for Heineken’s Open Your
City which airs as a Live Show with Chico as host on Classic FM, I
created the NBMAwards jingle in 2013, The ICT Olympiad jingle in 2015, a
version of Careers24 in 2014, and my favourite project before The
Ogbonge Man, had to be The Hepatitis Radio Show which aired in Lagos
(City FM) and Abuja (Nigeria Info) in 2014.'
'But
I guess the vibe and the language with which the Ogbonge Man was made
endeared many to the programme and ultimately, the personality behind
the programme,' he concluded.
