Raphael Nwoye, a 25-year-old casual worker in a factory located in the Ajao Estate area of Lagos State, has been arrested by the state police command, after he went on a rampage and stabbed his close friend and colleague, Ifeanyi Onuoha, 33, for insulting his lover.
Apart from Onuoha who lost his life in the attack, Nwoye also stabbed and injured two other colleagues who tried to make peace.
It
was gathered that Nwoye stabbed Onuoha on the neck and on the back,
with a knife on Tuesday, February 23, at about 8am on Niyi Ogunbameru
Street, after the suspect claimed that Onuoha had been rude to his
lover, identified only as Ngozi, on several occasions.
Nwoye,
it was further learnt, who was one of the casual workers who usually
offloaded containers at a company on the street, had had an altercation
with Onuoha a few weeks back over Ngozi and had warned the deceased to
desist from insulting his lover.
On the day of the
incident, Onuoha, came into the area to see whether there were
containers to offload, there was a fresh argument over Ngozi and before
anyone knew what was happening, Nwoye had brought out a knife he had in
his back and stabbed the victim on the neck and on the back.
The
two other victims who tried to prevent Nwoye from further attacking
Onuoha, were also stabbed before he tried to flee the scene but was
apprehended by residents who had been attracted by the noise. The police
at the Ajao Estate Police Division were quickly alerted of the bloody
fight and they went there and arrested the suspect.
The
three victims were then rushed to the Isolo General Hospital but Onuoha
died before reaching the hospital, the two others were said to be
