She was born in London to a Northern Nigerian mother and Yoruba father.

She studied Business Management at the University of East London.
She is was recently signed as an ambassador for the renowned beverage company, Pepsi alongside Wizkid and Tiwa Savage.
Ahead of her debut album, Seyi Shay dropped a massive single named, ‘Murda’ and it featured Patoranking and Shaydee.
In November 2015, Seyi dropped her debut album ‘Seyi or Shay’ as a solo act and it has continued to garner positive reviews.
On Seyi or Shay, the singer worked with top music producers including Grammy award winning Harmony Sammuels, Del B, Hugo, Dokta Frabs, Legendary Beat, Pheelz and TY Mix
In 2013, Seyi Shay was named the Best New Musician of the year by City People.
