Kerry Washington has debunked rumors that her marriage to husband Nnamdi Asomugha is on the rocks and says she didn’t want to talk about her personal like because it's best when some things are kept private!
"I think - and
this is something Reese Witherspoon has talked about a lot - it's a
little different for me because I don't talk about my personal life," Washington said in an interview during the 2016 SXSW Music, Film + Interactive Festival, which was held at the Austin Convention Center on Sunday, March 13 in Austin.
The 'Scandal' star
went on saying that she had no interest in exposing her life through
social media like Twitter or Instagram, which she mainly used to promote
her beloved ABC drama. "Social media has actually been great for
[other celebrities'] relationships with the weeklies or the gossip sites
because people say things and they say, 'That's not true! Just so you
know, that's BS!' I say 'BS' because it's Sunday," she pointed out. "So I'm thinking in some ways, it's been great because people are able to maintain their voice."
"That means not
only did I not tell you when I was getting married, it also means if
somebody has rumors about what's going on in my marriage, I don't refute
them, because I don't talk about my personal life," the 39-year-old actress stressed that once she said she didn't talk about her personal life, she really meant it.
It's
no secret that Washington and her husband rarely make a public
appearance together and she frequently shows up solo on the red carpet
