Prof. Enefiok Essien has now been sworn in as the Vice Chancellor of University of Uyo (UNIUYO), taking over from Prof Comfort Ekpo.
During the hand-over ceremony, Essien promised to work assiduously to sustain the development strides that the institution has made in the past years.
The newly instated vice chancellor said that he would welcome constructive advice from all to enable him improve on the ranking the institution nationally and internationally.
The handing over exercise was preceded by a prayer service organised by the Victory Chapel of the university.
He said: “No man is an island; I cannot play God. Whatever problem is identified should be brought up politely so that we put heads together to resolve it amicably.
“The past administration has raised the standard of this institution; we must work hard to add value.
By God’s grace, I will work to add value by taking everybody along for the purpose of development.
“The students must be made to be happy because without them, there is no university.”
Prof. Ekpo also urged everyone to support Essien.
“I took over from somebody and I will handover to somebody. Prof. Essien is God’s choice for the institution, everybody should support him,” she said.
