Jose Mournho
hinted at match officials being to blame for Chelsea's stumbling start
to their Barclays Premier League title defence.
The
Chelsea manager branded the decisions going against his team as ‘not
normal’ with captain John Terry and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois recently
sent off.
West
Bromwich Albion and Swansea City were also awarded penalties against
the champions, and Mourinho feels it is unusual after only three games
this season.
Mourinho shows his frustration during the win over West Brom, shouting at a pitch microphone
‘I
think the most important thing of this start to the season is that it’s
not normal that, in three matches, you have two penalties against and
play with 10 men twice,’ Mourinho said.
‘That’s
the thing that immediately comes to the mind of someone analysing the
situation. Apart from that, one match at home, two away, four points.
‘It’s not
what we want, but four points is not a drama. We have to keep going,
improving. We know we can improve and will improve. We’ll try to get a
good result.
‘This
is the Premier League so, when you are five points behind the leader in
another league that can be complication. In the Premier League, it’s
not complicated.’
Mourinho also refused to be drawn on his link with Everton defender John Stones, declaring himself happy with the squad he has.
Stones
was told by Everton chairman Bill Kenwright that he would not be sold
and that his transfer request had been rejected by the club.
Chelsea
have seen offers of £20m, £26m and £30m turned down with manager
Roberto Martinez maintaining that Stones will not leave Goodison Park
this summer.
‘I don’t speak about players from other teams,’ Mourinho said. ‘I’m happy with my squad.
‘If I get another player before the end of the market, good. If i don’t get, we go with what we have.’
Another
player linked with a high-profile move to Chelsea before the transfer
window shuts on September 1 is Paul Pogba, but Mourinho instead took aim
at Massimiliano Allegri.
‘He
is a Juventus player,’ Mourinho said. ‘I did a little critic at my
friend Allegri because I don’t like him speaking during the summer about
Oscar. I’m not going to be like [that] with Pogba. He’s a Juventus
player.’
